How to make your cashmere last a lifetime
It’s true what they say, the best things in life often take time - but by investing time in the ritual of taking care of your cashmere, it can keep you cosy for years and years to come. We’ve compiled a list of tips to answer all your TLC questions so you can look after your favourite piece with ease:
Creases can be removed by turning your jumper inside out, gently ironing on a low setting with a damp towel between the cashmere fabric and the iron plate. Keep the touch very light to avoid damaging your beautiful piece.
As part of general maintenance, you may want to gently comb and remove any piling that can occur. Lay the piece on a flat surface and gently comb with a cashmere brush.
Cleaning your Cashmere
How to wash
The best way to wash your cashmere jumper is by hand in cold water - we recommend using a small amount of baby shampoo or very mild detergent. After soaking and rinsing thoroughly, squeeze out any excess water gently, but never wring. Lay the garment out flat between two towels and press gently to soak up the remaining excess water.
How to dry
Lay to dry on a flat towel or a drying rack, but make sure it’s evenly spread across the rack rather than simply hung, as hanging whilst wet can stretch the fabric.
NEVER EVER put your cashmere
in the washing machine ...... seriously NEVER!
Once it’s completely dry, fold the garment neatly and store out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place. If you prefer to hang your jumper, ensure you use a hanger designed for knitwear to avoid misshaping the silhouette - although we’d recommend keeping it folded.
As much as you love your La Sororité piece, there will be little moths out there who will love it even more! To keep your piece fresh and deter these troublesome insects, store them with cedar wood balls, a natural alternative to mothballs or anti-moth paper, replacing at least once every year.
Although we’re sure you’ll be wanting to wear your jumper all year round, if you ever need to pop it away for a long period of time, ensure it is enclosed within a breathable zip-lock bag in a cool, dry space away from sunlight and strong scents.
Your beautiful La Sororité item is delicate but, very durable and with your loving care it will certainly last for years come.
